The Lion of Judah Ministries is a Messianic Ministry which was founded by Reverend Monita Dukhia in 2006. The Lion of Judah is Jesus Christ. Judah being represented as a lion was first mentioned in the book of Genesis, when Jacob blessed each one of his sons on his death bed and prophesies to Judah as in the following scripture:

“Judah, thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise: thy hand shall be in the neck of thine enemies; thy father`s children shall bow down before thee. Judah is a lion`s whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up? The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.”

Genesis 49:8-10

Judah was the fourth son of Jacob and the Hebrew form of the name is Yehudah. The Hebrew word for Jew “Yehudi” comes from the name Yehudah. When Joseph was sold into slavery in Egypt it was Judah who beseeched the rest of his brothers not to kill Joseph and spill his blood but to sell him into slavery instead.

“And Judah said unto his brethren, What profit is it if we slay our brother, and conceal his blood? Come, and let us sell him to the Ishmeelites, and let not our hand be upon him; for he is our brother and our flesh. And his brethren were content.”

Genesis 37:26-27

Years later it was Judah who stepped forward and offered himself up as collateral to Joseph for Benjamin’s release whilst they were in Egypt.

“For thy servant became surety for the lad unto my father, saying, If I bring him not unto thee, then I shall bear the blame to my father for ever. Now therefore, I pray thee, let thy servant abide instead of the lad a bondman to my lord; and let the lad go up with his brethren.”

Genesis 44:32-33

When Judah offers himself up as a surety to Joseph for Benjamin’s release, he was a type of Jesus Christ who offered Himself up on the Cross of Calvary as a surety for the entire world! Judah offered himself up as a surety to Joseph for Benjamin’s sake; whereas Christ offered Himself up as a surety and sin offering for the entire world! Christ went willingly to the Cross of Calvary as a sacrificial Lamb, but He soon will return as the Lion of Judah to Judge the world as written in the Book of Revelations.

“And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.”Revelations 5:5
